This was inspired by a Maple Aioli that was on a Bacon, Lettuce, Avocado and Tomato Sandwich that was on Parmesan Crusted Bread and slathered with Maple Aioli. From a really fun restaurant called 10 Below in the Oxford Hotel. Located in Bend, Oregon.
I don’t know how they made theirs, so I made my own version with a spicy twist. *Please read notes at the bottom for some suggestions.
Preparation time: 5 minutes
Makes a 1/2 cup
• 1/2 Cup Mayo
• 1 Tbl + 1 tsp. Walden Farms Pancake Syrup, (or Maple Syrup if you’re Paleo)
• 3/4 tsp. – 1 tsp. Jalapeno Powder
• 1/2 tsp. Onion Powder
• 1/2 tsp. Garlic Powder (granules)
• Salt and Pepper, to taste
1.) Mix everything except salt and pepper, in a small bowl. Taste to see if you want more sweet or more spicy, or if it’s good then add a dash of salt and pepper.
💙 I add the full teaspoon of Jalapeno Powder, but I like it to be more spicy than sweet. If you’re unsure start with 3/4 tsp. and add more if you want it a little spicier.
💙 Garlic Granules are a little different than Garlic Powder. Granules aren’t ground as fine as powder. I’ve done it with both and prefer the granules, but it is perfectly fine to use the powder.
💙 This Mayo is good on all sorts of Sandwiches BLATS, Egg, Bacon and Cheese Sandwiches, Egg, Bacon and Sausage Sandwiches, Turkey Sandwiches, Ham Sandwiches, Smoky Seasoned Tempeh/and or Tofu, and Veggie Sandwiches. I’m sure there are so many other things this could be good on.
💙 Jalapeno Powder – What is it and where do you find it? It is just dehydrated and ground Jalapenos. I found one by Simple Truth Organic from our local Fred Meyer’s (sometimes called Kroger stores). I’ve also seen it on Amazon from a brand called Spiceology. Jalapeno Powder is really good on Chicken too.
💙 You could Veganize this by using Veganaise or another Vegan Mayo as substitute. To make it Paleo use Avocado Oil Mayo and Real Maple Syrup. There’s also a Lakanto Maple Syrup and a Birch Bender’s Brand. I haven’t tried either so I can’t speak to how they taste.
